FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. WHAT IS POLYURETHANE FOAM?
A. Polyurethane Foam is a two part liquid that when spray-applied, expands up to 30% to form a monolithic, seamless, lightweight roof surface normally used in low slope roofing systems.

Q. IS IT NECESSARY TO COAT SPRAY-APPLIED (SPF) FOAM ROOFING?
A. Yes, Polyurethane foam must be coated to protect the foam from the destructive U.V. rays from the sun. Polyurethane roof foam must always be coated with white high- reflective acrylic, silicone or urethane coatings for foam protection and energy savings benefits.

Q. IS YOUR ROOF COATING ENERGY STAR APPROVED?
A. Yes, Our "Kool Kote" coatings have been tested and meet the ASTM Reflectance Standards for Initial Solar Reflectance and (3) year reflectance requirements. SWD 1929R and SWD 1929F acrylic white Quik-Shield ®coatings are shown on The Energy Star and California Qualified Product Lists.

Q. IS YOUR ROOF COATING APPROVED BY THE COOL ROOF RATING COUNCIL?
A. Yes, SWD 1929F Quik-Shield ® coating has been tested and approved to ASTM standards and is listed by the CRRC (Cool Roof Rating Council) for Solar Reflectance of 83% and Thermal Emittance of 92%.

Q. IS A SPRAY-APPLIED FOAM ROOF SYSTEM EXPENSIVE?
A. The price of a SPF system, although higher than common built-up roofs can actually be 30 % less when considering the 'Life-cycle costs of the roof over a period of time. Heating and cooling costs can drop dramatically with SWD reflective coatings that may reduce energy bills up to 50%.

Q. HOW LONG DOES POLYURETHANE FOAM LAST?
A. Polyurethane foam has been shown to last 25 years without internal degradation. SWD Urethane Co. and it's affiliated contracting companies, Arizona Foam & Spray has been successfully installing foam roof systems since 1969.

Q. CAN I WALK ON MY SPF ROOF?

Q. WHAT IS TITLE 24
A. Title 24 is now required on most new buildings in california efective Oct 5th of 2005. It requires that most new roofs be insulated immediately on top or underneath the roof to meet new insulation, Solar Reflectance and Thermal Emiittance requirements.
